The Raised Arms Pose (Urdhva Hastansana)

The raised arms pose is the perfect pose for a morning stretch. To prepare yourself for this pose, you might want to begin by entering the mountain pose or Tadasana. Place your feet together, flat on your yoga mat

Engage the muscles in your legs and align your shoulders over your hips. Keep the crown of your head raised and breathe. To enter the raised arm pose, breathe in a bring both arms above your head.

Keep your posture and reach up all the way through your fingertips. You can turn your gaze towards your hands. You can keep them shoulder-width apart, or you can touch your palms.

You're now stretched for the day.

The Garland Pose (Malasana)

To complete the garland pose, you'll want to place your feet on the edges of your mat. Then, bend your knees. You'll enter a squatting position.

If your toes begin to turn outwards, this is okay. If your heels can't stay flat on the floor, then consider using two blocks stacked on top of one another. You can use these to sit on when you come down into your squat position.

This pose is great for the hips. If you sit for long periods during the day, you'll want to give this yoga pose a try.

The Head to Knee Pose (Janu Sirsasana)

Sit on your yoga mat with your legs together and out in front of you. Keep your spine straight and extended. Make sure your shoulders are directly over your hips.

Yous arms can be straight on either side of you with your palms down. It's okay if they're bent slightly. Bend your left leg.

The sole of your left foot should be flat on your right inner thigh. Use your breath to stretch your pose. Inhale and lengthen your spine.

Exhale and reach for your right foot. Grab your right foot with both hands. When you exhale, you should be able to bend further.

Do this for 5 full breaths and then switch.

Hatha Yoga (Yoga for Posture)

Hatha Yoga is a gentle type of yoga that's great for improving posture. Hatha Yoga is also an ideal type of yoga for those just starting yoga. Beginners can look up a few different Hatha Yoga classes to follow online while they practice at home.

Originally, Hatha stood for the practice of yoga poses in general. Now, it refers more to the combination of different yoga styles when combined with one another, makes a wonderful beginner's yoga class. You should be able to complete most of the poses on your own without too much trouble.

Once you're able to perfect the poses in your Hatha Yoga workout, you can then begin to move on to more difficult poses.

Iyengar Yoga (Use of Props)

Iyengar Yoga is another form of gentle yoga, but this type of yoga uses several different props. This type of yoga does go at a slow pace so it's also great for beginners. You may find that some of these poses are a bit challenging to get into completely when you're new to it.

That's where the props come into play. You can use blocks, belts, and other yoga props to help you get into the poses with proper alignments. Over time, you'll find yourself needing the props less and less.

Kundalini Yoga (Spiritual)

Kundalini Yoga is more focused on the spiritual side of yoga. The type of yoga does include different yoga poses, but the majority of it is meditation, chanting, and practicing different breathing techniques.

This is a good way to become in touch with yourself and the world around you. If you come home stressed from a long day at work, this is a way to decompress and relax. Bring out your yoga mat and focus on the now.

Kripalu Yoga (Slow Process)

Kirpaly Yoga is a slow process. It's a gentle form of yoga that won't cause you to break too much of a sweat. To begin, you'll start by practicing some slow movements.

You'll slowly transition through 3 levels of deeper mind and body awareness. Rather than focusing on getting into different yoga positions, you'll focus on your mind and the present moment. You'll also focus on your body, such as how your muscles feel, and more.
